Home / News / A Chain Breaking Star Has Joined The Link Team

Our newest addition and great friend to the Link Support Charity, Kyle, has completed something bigger and better than most would do in a lifetime.  Recently, I posted an ad on Craigslist that said “Break 50 Chains And Get A Free BMX” and received more responses in a half an hour than I had bikes to give away. So after narrowing it down to 2 candidates, and speaking to them to clarify how it would work, I met with one of the volunteers.  His name is Kyle.  Kyle and I looked over the BMX bike that would be his after his volunteer commitment was met.  I then sent him home with 25 chains. I figured I’d hear from him in a week or two, and that he would have broken down a few chains, and that he was realizing it was a slow and tedious process. But no, just a few days later, Kyle called me and said he needed twenty five more chains! After I picked myself and the phone up off the floor, I told him I couldn’t pay for any medical bills for his hands, and he responded with “oh no I made a power tool with my uncle, and we are cruising through them.”  Today, just 3 days later, I received an email from Kyle saying he’d be done tonight, fifty chains completely separated and ready to be recycled into charity Links. Flat out Kyle is truly a man of his word, a determined hard working guy, and from the Link Support’s point of view, a “Master Link” in our charity family. Thanks Kyle, and enjoy that bike!
